Last week my best friends and I took a final bow together. I am so grateful to have had the last 4 years to do what I love with people that I love, and I am endlessly grateful to Starlight Theatre for supporting us through it all. I am so thrilled to win a Blue Star for Outstanding Supporting Actress for Rosie in Mamma Mia, and also a Blue Star Performance Scholarship! I am also so proud of LNHS for winning nine(!) Blue Stars, including Best Musical!
This is a quote from my acceptance speech about Starlight:
“The past 4 years of my high school career have been filled with changes, challenges. But something that has remained constant is Starlight’s commitment to recognizing and empowering young artists.
Two years ago, despite the pandemic, these awards persisted — even if it had to be virtually.
Last year, again after not knowing what the Blue Stars would look like after our tumultuous school year, they persisted.
That takes a group which prioritizes and understands the importance of the Arts on young people. I know the impact that persistence has had on my life and where I go next, and also know on so many others.
Just last year, a friend of mine stood on this stage and accepted an award. This fall, he will be making his broadway debut. While undoubtably that speaks to Justin’s amazing talent, it also speaks to opportunities and support from Starlight—Katie, Andy, Alex—and everyone who has made the Blue Stars go on.
For me, I cannot thank you enough for continuing to support us and making opportunities available, even when it was difficult, because that’s when we needed it the most.”
I cannot say it enough, Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
