Thank you Starlight Theatre!!!!

Last week my best friends and I took a final bow together. I am so grateful to have had the last 4 years to do what I love with people that I love, and I am endlessly grateful to Starlight Theatre for supporting us through it all. I am so thrilled to win a Blue Star for Outstanding Supporting Actress for Rosie in Mamma Mia, and also a Blue Star Performance Scholarship! I am also so proud of LNHS for winning nine(!) Blue Stars, including Best Musical!

This is a quote from my acceptance speech about Starlight:

“The past 4 years of my high school career have been filled with changes, challenges. But something that has remained constant is Starlight’s commitment to recognizing and empowering young artists.

Two years ago, despite the pandemic, these awards persisted — even if it had to be virtually.

Last year, again after not knowing what the Blue Stars would look like after our tumultuous school year, they persisted.

That takes a group which prioritizes and understands the importance of the Arts on young people.  I know the impact that persistence has had on my life and where I go next, and also know on so many others.

Just last year, a friend of mine stood on this stage and accepted an award. This fall, he will be making his broadway debut.  While undoubtably that speaks to Justin’s amazing talent, it also speaks to opportunities and support from Starlight—Katie, Andy, Alex—and everyone who has made the Blue Stars go on.

For me, I cannot thank you enough for continuing to support us and making opportunities available, even when it was difficult, because that’s when we needed it the most.”

I cannot say it enough, Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

My Wild Card Video...

Perhaps my favorite aspect of my College-Prescreen-Package, the Wild Card is an opportunity for applicants to do... something. Anything. This is my something.

Happy New Year!!

I had the chance to perform in BAA’s 2021 Holiday Cabaret, and it was a perfect way to close out this year.

Though it had plenty of challenges, 2021 was a year full of personal growth, and so many opportunities which I am so grateful for. From The Jimmy Awards, to my first live-theatre in 18 months, to college prescreens, this year was truly one for the books. Happy New Year, and I can’t wait to see what amazing opportunities the next year will hold!!

Mamma Mia!

So, so much love to this cast, these seniors, and this show. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support. I love you all very dearly, and I cannot express my gratitude for making the past four years so very special.

Back in NYC!!

Felt so great to back in NYC for Broadway Artists Alliance Summer Session Four!! It was so exciting to finally be back In-person and see so many people I’ve worked with virtually over the past year. Check out my final showcase performance of “Right Hand Man” from Something Rotten!

I was a Finalist for the 2021 Jimmy Awards!

Maybe someday I will have the words to truly express how joyful, rewarding, and exhilarating the past few weeks of the Jimmy Awards have been, but I just want to say thank you to my family, friends, my fellow nominees, and everyone who made the show possible. The love I feel for this community is so overwhelming, and I am so proud to have had the opportunity to learn and work with all of you. The Jimmys are back!!
Congrats to the incomparable Elena and Bryson! I couldn’t be prouder!! So proud also for my fellow KC nominee Justin Cooley for being a finalist, too!

Ava Wins Best Actress at the 2020-2021 Blue Star Awards!

The last week is still such a blur, from performing on the starlight stage after a year of basement performances to winning my second blue star award, I am overcome with gratitude for the support I have felt from my coaches, family and friends. So happy to have had this opportunity, and so excited for the month to come, off to the Jimmys!

BAA Winter Showcase

Thank you BAA for another wonderful workshop!! Times are hard for artists and I am so thankful to be a part of this community that works so hard to continue creating even as our stages are closed.

So grateful for all of my teachers, coaches, (and of course voice group b) for making making this weekend possible!

In the showcase, I performed “The Life I Never Led” from Sister Act. I performed this my first time at BAA two years ago, and it was fun to work on it again. Also, I had the opportunity to be in the group number performance of “Wake Up” from Julie and the Phantoms from Netflix.

The Case is Closed!

So, so much love for this show and this cast, your talent is enormous and i am so honored to have been a part of this show!

Thank you to BAA, Jennifer Johns-Grasso, Jina Nam, and Mimi Robinson for making this show possible. We couldn’t have done it without you!!

Special thank you to original cast members Laura Osnes, Jackie Burns, and Miguel Cervantes, for their support, encouragement and guidance — it truly means the world!!

For information on the show, see this story on Broadwayworld.com and this story about when Laura Osnes and Jackie Burns surprised our cast the night before the first show.

The trailer and some photos from the show are below, including a photo from when Miguel Cervantes watched along with us during our last performance!
